Holyoke Parks and Recreation seeks to develop and promote a wide variety of recreation opportunities and to encourage and inspire all Holyoke residents to come out and play in Holyoke.  A listing of City parks, recreation facilities, sport organizations and sport venues are listed in the for residents section under Parks and Recreation, located on the left side of this page.

 SENIORFEST 2010

 

ANNUAL PICNIC FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

WEDNESDAY * AUGUST 25, 2010 * 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

at the MATER DOLOROSA SOCIAL CENTER

Tickets for the Holyoke Parks & Recreation Department’s 12th Annual Senior Fest Picnic will go on sale, Tuesday, August 3, 2010! 

The ticket price is $4.00 and must be purchased in advance at the Parks & Recreation Department or the Council on Aging.  Tickets will also be available during the Council on Agings’ blood pressure clinics. Tickets sales are limited to 500.  No tickets will be sold at the door.

 

The Senior Band of Massachusetts and entertainer Jimmy Mazz will get the crowd jumping with their fantastic selections of crowd pleasing tunes.  The day of fun and socializing will be capped off by the Master of Ceremonies, Mayor Elaine Pluta as she conducts the ever-popular Free Raffle! 

 

The Holyoke Council on Aging organizes an informational Health Fair with several area agencies and organizations that service Holyoke’s senior population.

 

 

 

 

SUMMER 2010

With a wide variety of co-ed sport programs, special events, recreational leaders in the parks as well as pool activities, we have a program just for you.  Below is listed our summer 2010 offerings for all ages.  If you would like more information, please call the Parks and Recreation Department at (413) 322-5620.

 

 

YOUTH SPORTS

Our fun and competitive environment offers athletes of all abilities an opportunity to develop and improve their sport-specific skills.  Our programs offer an atmosphere where there is top quality instruction, great facilities, opportunities to improve skills and make life-long memories. 

 

We have week long programs in basketball, crew (rowing), field hockey, kayak, tennis and volleyball.  There is also a private soccer camp held at our facility.  PARK ACTIVITES 

Through our Recreational Leaders in the Parks program, we offer certified leaders to help provide summer fun while playing cooperative games and making arts & crafts.  No registration is necessary and the program is FREE!  12:00 PM - 4:00 PM, weather permitting. Park schedule:

 

Springdale Park (Main St.):  Monday, Wednesday & Friday

 

Kenndey Park (Lincoln St/Nonotuck St): Tuesday & Thursday

 

Rohan Park (upper West Franklin St./former Kirtland School):  Monday & Wednesday

 

South Chestnut St. Park (upper Chestnut St.): Monday - Friday

  

SPECIAL EVENTS

There are several special events that take place in the City throughout the year.  Below is a listing of events, small and large, that take place in late spring through the end of summer:  Arbor Day Celebration, Middle School Track & Field Championships, Family Fish Day, Casey Kane Memorial Tennis Tournament, Massachusetts Cup Field Hockey Tournament, 3 on 3 outdoor Basketball Tournament, City of Holyoke Fireworks, Flashback music and car show concert and the annual Seniorfest picnic.
