CITY OF HOLYOKE

FIRE DEPARTMENT

The City of Holyok Fire Chief John Pond would like to remind Holyoke residents that any and all open burning is illegal.  Holyoke is included in 22 of the state's largest cities and towns in which open burning is prohibited due to the density of population and the close proximity of buildings within their borders.

The danger of brush fires is a serious concern.  The mild winter has created extremely dry conditions, and is further complicated by all of the downed tress and branches from the October snow storm.  All complaints of open burning will be responded to and extinguished along with fines levied on the homeowner.  Chief Pond asks that everyone obey the law and help keep the City of Holyoke safe.
